I am Dr. Fareed Tareen, DDS — a graduate of NYU College of Dentistry with Honors in Esthetic Dentistry based in the Metro Detroit Area and Southern Canada. Founder & Principal Dentist at ODONTO Dental, and Partner Dentist at Tareen Dental.
Preservation and enhancement of the human smile and its surrounding structures is the ultimate ideal the dentist must strive for. The delivery of beauty through form and grace through function are equally pivotal. Beauty should not be treated as a luxury, but as a standard of practice. All dentistry, therefore, should be considered esthetic dentistry by default.
Dentistry is the perfect blend of art and science — a sculpture at a miniature scale. In treatment, the clinician must deduce as a scientist yet produce as an artist. It is also a unique art form, perhaps the only one in which the canvas has its own opinion. The smile is the tool we use to manifest happiness to the world around us, and so the dentist's role in addressing the psychosocial needs of patients is paramount.

It is often said that good design should be invisible — that the objects we use should sit quietly in the background of daily life. Essentials uses x-ray radiography as a photographic tool: stripping away the surface to expose the intricacy, engineering, and manufacturing detail built into the everyday products we take for granted.

Industrial and dental product design — from molecular-inspired furniture to clinical instruments.
Every day we observe forms in both the natural and built environments. But there are forms the eye cannot see — particularly in chemistry. The C6 Chair was inspired by the conformation of the cyclohexane molecule (C6H12) in its most stable form.
Bilateral slits were incorporated into the bow of the rubber dam clamp to accommodate floss tying during placement. This modification lets the clinician securely tie floss bilaterally on the bow instead of through the central wing holes — removing obstructions during restorative or endodontic procedures while maintaining a stable clamp position.
The PFMD crown concept implemented diamond as a potential restorative material in fixed prosthodontics for aesthetic purposes — applied to the mesial and distal cusp ridges on the labial aspect of a maxillary canine crown, while the lingual ridges were preserved as pure porcelain to avoid elevated attrition risk.
